There are quite a few bands on my iTunes were I only have a few songs from them. These are pretty good bands, they haven't developed a large collection of music so that I have purchased tons of there stuff. So here are a few miscellaneous, yet very enjoyable bands that I didn't have quite enough songs to do a full blog post on
*Bombay Bicycle Club- Relatively new, but quite talented. Most of Bombay Bicycle Club's rather unique sound comes from the odd way the singer sings by using a quasi-falsetto wavering voice. Its a pretty cool and really unique sound, and part of the appeal of BBC. Otherwise, I feel as though this band wouldn't have to much to offer. BBC doesn't have a huge fan base, but has recently released a full CD that elaborates on their sound. Personally my favorite song by them is The Hill, which really shows off the weird vocal patterns and also uses a very interesting guitar solo. Check it out, its a pretty cool song, and I also posted their song Open House, just to add some variety.
* Matt & Kim- I add Matt & Kim to this post very hesitantly, because they do have quite a few enjoyable songs, just not enough for me to do a full post on, so here they are. Matt & Kim is a two person operation specializing in a very unique brand of quirky Indie music. With pounding drums, Matt Johnson's fairly odd voice, and plenty of reverb and echos, Matt & Kim have crafted a sound that you may not be used to and may actually not like at first, but is still one of the staples of a new breed of Indie Rock acts. Expect great things from this band in the future, but for now, listen to the songs Daylight and Good Ol' Fashion Nightmare from there 2009 Album Grand.
* Fleet Foxes- Not gonna lie, Fleet Foxes took a little bit to get used to. Unlike other bands that I've blogged about, I kinda hesitate to call this Indie Rock. Indie, yes, but rock? Maybe. Fleet Foxes have developed a sort of woodsy sound. The lead singer uses a similar voice to that of the singers of Band of Horses and The Shins, but gets rid of all the electric guitars and things that make a band a rock band. However, they have developed quite a good sound and usually a very chill one. I enjoy Fleet Foxes when just sitting around chilling out. So, for your listening enjoyment, Fleet Foxes songs White Winter Hymnal and Mykonos.
*Ra Ra Riot- Ra Ra Riot's sound is not especially unique in the Indie Rock world. Their type of music is a sub-genre called Baroque Pop, or music utilizing strings and emotional lyrics. If you are familiar with Arcade Fire or Sufjan Stevens, those bands are baroque pop. Though maybe not especially unique, Ra Ra Riot still has quite a bit of talent to create a worthy addition to modern Indie Rock. My favorite part of the music they make is the blatant use of string accompaniment. For me, that makes their songs just that much better. So if you want to listen to some emotive Baroque Pop, check out Ra Ra Riot's songs Can You Tell and Dying is Fine.
And for some truly miscellaneous songs. These are songs very much like other bands, and the only ones I own of the respective bands.
